An Evening Of Stars Prom

ATG had the awesome privilege of helping with the “An Evening Of Stars” Prom. ATG supplied DJ Services, Lighting, Video Screens, a Photo Booth, as well as a bunch of energy that filled the night with a fun and exciting vibe!

The ‘An Evening of Stars’ Prom was held on September 23rd, 2011 at Founders Hall in Charlotte, North Carolina. This prom was created for 100, 13-21 year old cancer patients of Levine Children’s Hospital and their escorts. This prom came at no cost to the prom attendees as all all facets of this prom was donated by the Charlotte community and beyond. In 2012, The Sandbox will host the ‘An Evening of Believing’ prom on September 28th at Founders Hall. In 2012, the goal is to create a prom for 150 teens/young adults and their escorts and as well, include children from multiple hospitals throughout North and South Carolina.

The History Behind It All! 
There is a non profit organization here in Charlotte, NC called The Sandbox that was formed to brighten up the smiles of kids that are terminally ill. They help the patients and their families at the Levine Children’s Hospital with different needs and wishes that they may have. One of the wishes that came from the hospital was to create a Prom for the kids since a lot of them would never be able to make it to their real high school prom. So The Sandbox took a big wish and made it a reality. They proceeded to create an unbelievable night of magic! It was an evening where the kids would get to live out some of the moments in life that we all take for granted.

The Prom was specifically designed to let the patients know how special they truly are. The Prom was created for 100 patients and they each got to invite 1 guest. It was a night to lose all worries for one evening.

Once word got out about this event, the community really came together to make this an unforgetable night. There were sponsors such as Best Buy, The GAP, The Men’s Wearhouse, plus a whole lot of local companies and volunteers.

The event took place in uptown Charlotte and everything was decked out with VIP decor. The patients were transported from the Levine Children’s Hospital in Limos and when they arrived to the venue they got out and were greeted by paparazzi taking their photos as they walked down the red carpet to get into the building. Once they were inside, they danced the night away!

Near the end of the evening there was a crowning of a prom king and queen just as you would see at a prom and then as another surprise to the kids we had several celebrities on video giving a special message to the patients and their families.

General Information: Hosted a Prom for the children who are patients of Levine Children’s Hospital in September 2011. This will be an annual event which will bring many more evenings of smiles and memories!
